The Walking Wake raid will not be available for less than two weeks
After teasing them in the main game Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have finally made two Paradox Pokemon accessible through tera attacks. Walking Wake, a prehistoric version of Suicune, can be found in Scarlet. Iron Leaves, a futuristic version of Virizion is available in Purple. Although these two Pokemon are only available for a short time, they can be captured at any moment. Let’s discuss how to defeat and capture Walking Wake.
When will the Walking Wake raid occur?
Today’s Walking Wake terrain will begin at 6:59 p.m./ 3:59 p.m. Eastern time. It is part of Pokemon day. This is significant because Walking Wake is the only Paradox Pokemon available in Violet for a short time. If you are looking to complete your collection, make sure you get on these raids before the doors close.
What’s Walking Wake?
Walking Wake is an old version of Suicune. It first appeared in Pokemon Gold and Silver. Then, it became the version mascot for Pokemon Crystal. Walking Wake is a more complex and reptilian version of the original Suicune. Many Scarlet Paradox Pokemon is a drastic departure from the modern Pokemon they come from. However, they still look very similar to their current counterparts so that they can be easily recognized at a glance.
The Paradox Pokemon is seen as a boss in a tera raid. Walking Wake was teased initially in the base game via Scarlet Book. This sketch showed the character, implying that it was an imagined resident in Area Zero. Area Zero is where Paradox Pokemon live after being transported to the Paldea region by Professor Sada’s Time Machine. Walking Wake is the only ancient Pokemon to be based on a legendary Pokemon.
Which Pokemon are the best to defeat Walking Wake?
Walking Wake can be classified as a base type of water or dragon. This makes sense considering the reptilian characteristics it has in comparison to the original Suicune. It also has a water-tera type, which means that the dragon typing is not really relevant when looking for its weaknesses. Although the raid is five stars, it will not be as difficult as previous event raids like Chrizard or Greninja. However, it has a very robust strategy that you need to know how to combat. This is the boss’s move set:
- Sunny Day (Fire).
- Hydro Steam (Water)
- Noble Roar (Normal).
- Dragon Pulse (Dragon).
- Flamethrower (Fire).
Walking Wake will instantly cast Sunny Day, which means that most of its strength is centered around manipulating the weather. The boss, like all of scarlet‘s Paradox Pokemon, has Photosynthesis, an ability that raises its highest stat when it is in direct sunlight. Hydro Steam is a water move that bypasses the negative effects of sunlight on water moves and increases its power by 50%. Flamethrower is another feature that benefits from the sun’s natural increase in sunlight. Walking Wake is able to strike hard straight out of the gate.
It has Flamethrower so grass-type Pokemon cannot be used in the Walking Wake raid. You’ll undoubtedly be the victim of a strong fire attack. Electric Pokemon are the best option since the boss doesn’t have any ground-type options.
Walking Wake was quickly taken out by me using a level 100 Raichu. However, any electric-type Pokemon will do. Iron Hands is a classic in raid battles ever since Scarlet and Violet launched. It would be a great addition to this team. Miraidon, with its high special defense stat, is an excellent pick if you are playing Violet or have traded one. This scenario would be dominated by Dragon Pulse. However, it could be overcome with strategic tera types. You might consider selling it to a Treasure Eatery near Medali and changing its tera type from electric.
No matter what Pokemon you bring, Walking Wake will be level 75 in a five-star Tera Raid. Although it won’t be as strong as the Charizard and Greninja raids it is still powerful enough to fight.
How can I get a shining Walking Wake?
Walking Wake is shiny locked, as with all event tera raids Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Although players have discovered the models for shiny versions both of it and Iron Leaves within the code, these forms are not currently available through legal means. The shiny forms of Pokemon such as Charizard or Greninja were originally only available in Scarlet and Violetthrough raids. However, they were still possible to breed and were not locked. Iron Leaves and Walking Wake, however, are Paradox Pokemon that cannot be bred. These forms are expected to be available soon.
How can I get Walking Wake in Pokemon Violet?
Although Walking Wake technically is a Scarletexclusive game, both games draw from the same raid pool when they enter the Poke Portal. Simply pause the game and go to Poke Portal to connect to the internet. This will show you a list of available tera raids. As a violet player, I have seen other players looking for Walking Wake raids. I was able to access them even though I didn’t have Scarlet. This should also apply to Scarlet players of Iron Leaves. However, you will need to find the right time to access the tera raid fight search menu.
If you have Violet, it is a good idea to join forces with someone who has Scarlet. The raid is always accessible through this menu. If you have trouble getting together with friends, refresh the search menu. You may luck out.
Walking Wake, despite being based upon legendary Pokemon, is much easier than most of Scarlet and Violet‘s event Raids. This is likely a good thing as it means that more people will be able to catch them over time. Many players expected Walking Wake would play into Scarlet and Violet‘s story DLC. However, Game Freak decided to make them optional bosses. Paradox Pokemon could still be a key part of the future of the games, despite the fact that the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero is the name of the DLC.
